NTERNET BUSINESS NEWS-(C)1995-2005 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD
Fact sheets to make people aware of consumer rights online and help them remain vigilant have been published in the UK by Citizens Advice, a charity providing confidential and independent advice on money, legal and other problems.
Citizens Advice is supporting the http://www.getsafeonline.org.uk initiative introduced by the government and businesses, to help small business and citizens protect themselves against Internet problems. The fact sheets use simple language and are intended to provide informed advice on how to deal with online fraud in order to help people use the Internet safely.
Citizens Advice has made three new fact sheets available at http://www.adviceguide.org.uk, covering fraud on the Internet, offensive Internet sites and using other people's material.
Increasing numbers of people are becoming victims of online threats such as unwanted e-mail and viruses, phishing, identity theft and rogue traders and scams. Citizens Advice said the fact sheets will help people make decisions at a time when more and more people are using the Internet for personal business and online shopping.
