The Hype about Traffic Exchange Programs
If you are a fledgling webmaster or website owner, you may have just started to realizing that getting visitors to your website is a lot harder than it sounds. It is definitely not as easy as those traffic exchange programs promise that it is.
Have you come across these ads on the Internet before? Try our traffic exchange program we guarantee thousands of visitors in 24 hours or less!!! or Need traffic? Join our program and start getting hundreds of hits in minutes!! -- I must admit I fell for all the hype and soon realized that these programs were not all that they were cracked up to be.
I signed up for about five of these programs and soon came to realize that most of these programs were looking for customers for other websites. I never came across an actual traffic generator where customers would be streaming to my website within minutes. The websites required that you surf through pages of other advertisers to earn points in order to advertise your own website. I did this willingly and even found some programs that were interesting. But it wasn't until I checked my email and found that it was full of junk mail from all types of MLM's, E-Books for sale, Marketing products and so on, that I realized that this was not a very realistic way to find visitors for my own site. Most of the other surfers were doing the same thing that I was doing, just surfing to earn credits to promote their own website. It was highly unlikely that this method would generate the kind of traffic that I was looking for.
And I was right. When I checked out my web traffic reports, I found that I had gotten many hits from these sites but no where near where they promised. They said hundreds I got about ten a day in all. That's right I said ten...So it was back to the books. I went back to researching other methods of generating traffic for my website and it looks like the only guaranteed method is this simple...Hard work...I'm talking making sure your site is properly submitted to search engines, has plenty of readable content, incoming and outgoing links, user friendly, informative, has a service or goods that people want and so on...
If you think that to make money online, all you have to do is create a website and stick ads all over it, you are wrong and you could be killing your website before it even starts. Search engine companies have certain requirements that they look for to give a website good page rankings. They also look down upon sites that are virtually ad farms with little or no content for Internet users and even go as far as to blacklist sites like those.
Don't fall into the hype of a quick solution, there is no guaranteed overnight solution to your website traffic. You must build the popularity of your website slowly but strongly over time. It may take weeks to months and possibly even years. But if you do it right you will be rewarded with a strong reputation and customer base that will be spread all across the web for years to come.
